About

I am a trained institutional economist. I have worked in the private sector, academia and government. I spent four years leading a state level economic development agency. I believe the discipline of economics needs to undergo a drastic overhaul. Economics needs to broaden the focus to it’s political economy roots, institutions, and complexity. I hope to increase, if even in some small way, the literacy of economics and government with this blog.

I have lived in the amazing state of Alaska since 2006. In addition to the above information, I am also a wife, mother to my payback child and two fur kids, a photographer, president of a school governing board, and an avid reader. My tag line is that I run entirely on caffeine, sarcasm, and inappropriate thoughts. I hope to save what might be left of my sanity by getting the rants out of my head and onto this blog.
